Question: What albums have been your biggest influences?
I’m with ya on the “Hungry” album. I STILL listen to that one. Others that were influential for me were “Time” by Third Day, “Drawing Black Lines” by Project 86 and Hillsong United’s “United We Stand.”
Third Day and Project 86 were the first “Christian” bands that connected with me back in the late 90s/early 00s that made me realize there were Christian bands that could rival or even surpass secular bands. It made me drop that ridiculous line of thinking.
“United We Stand” reinvigorated my interest in worship music. I was into the Passion stuff when it was blowing up, but grew tired of it over the years. A buddy of mine burned me a few songs from HU and it opened my eyes to the next generation of praise music, and most notably, the great Joel Houston. I have a serious man-crush on Joel…. oh no, I’ve said too much!!
Haha! Joel is a great writer. United We Stand is a great album. I should included a United album in there. So many good ones.
….dude no hillsong united look to you or united we stand…..bro we need to talk about ur lack of hillsong on the list.
I know! See the comment below 🙂 Hillsong United Best Friend was probably the biggest for me, though there’s something to like on all of them. I probably should have done a top 20 🙂

Hungry…. I still listen to that album. Being a huge Redman fan myself, I think Facedown would be my choice for a top 10. A resounding yes to the Passion, Brownsville and Crowder albums. I have to agree with a few of the other posters – there has to be at least one United album on there, but I honestly don’t know which. Best Friend maybe…
Also, I’d probably have to include Jason Upton on this list. His “Faith” album was one of the most challenging albums I’ve ever tried to worship to. I say “tried” because when I’m being honest with both God and myself, his lyrics are hard to get out.
And although they’re a pretty new worship band, I think Jesus Culture’s new album Come Away has over 30 plays already in my iTunes – simply a breath of fresh air.

I feel shamed for not including united 🙂 Faith is a brilliant album as well. That may be #11 for me.
Tehila Toronto: Born of the Spirit really set me free. It rearranged the way I thought worship had to be.
But my first worship love was Winds of Worship 12: live from London.
I’m with you on Brownsville, it was such a unique time right during my college years. Another huge influence for me was Marcos Witt in Spanish.
