Fanfarlo

Just discovered this brand new band, Fanfarlo. They are making their debut album available for $1 over the next month. I discovered them because they come recommended by none other than Sigur Ros, one of my top 5 bands. I don’t know much about them other than they look dorky, are from England, and make music that sounds like Arcade Fire and Sigur Ros – a combination that could equal awesomeness.

What do you think?

Do you have any questions?

Last night at APEX, our young adult group, we had a special guest, Jeff Leake, join us for a great learning experience. Everyone was able to ‘text’ their questions in and Jeff tackled them. Many questions came in dealing with issues such as evolution, speaking in tongues, dating, movies, why God seems to hide himself, and many others.

If you were there, what are your thoughts? Would you like to do this again?

Any other questions you’d like to see addressed?

Seabird – "Til We See the Shore"

Umbrella of mercy, here. I’ve never heard these guys. But I’ve been made aware of their album selling for $1.99 on Amazon mp3. So I bought it. They seem to pursue the Coldplay/Radiohead craze with their sound. I also hear a little of The Fray after 5 minutes of listening.

Sometimes you just need to indulge yourself with that.

Let me know what you think?

The Foundation of Serving

What is your foundation for serving others? Is it out of a desire to stroke your own ego or out of love for Christ?

Just Do Something

I just finished reading a very insightful book about the will of God. It’s called “Just Do Something: A Liberating Approach to Finding God’s Will or How to make a decision without dreams, visions, fleeces, impressions, open doors, random Bible verses, casting lots, liver shivers, writing in the sky, etc.” by Kevin DeYoung.

Quite a title, huh?

For the most part, I was highly encouraged and motivated by what I read. Kevin drives home the thought that in the name of ‘waiting on God’ for His perfect will, we are being inactive and simply don’t know how to make decisions. He says we shouldn’t wait on God’s will of direction, but should simply obey His Word and make decisions for His glory. Focus on what the Bible says you should focus on instead of waiting for something that may never come.

I believe this is true, but I also believe we should ask God to reveal His perfect will as we remain active in what we already know is good.

Check this book out. It will challenge your thinking!
