Leading Through Doubt, Struggle, & Lack Of Faith

leading

It’s OK. Trust me, it is.

Your struggle, doubt, and lack of faith isn’t the end of you. It doesn’t have to be the end of your ministry.

Matter of fact, it might just be the beginning of something extraordinary.

We all have those moments. We know we need to be strong, full of faith, men and women living in the power of God. Truth is, sometimes we doubt. We stand on stage in a ministry role and struggle to believe God is who He says He is at times. We feel weak.

Ever been there? If you have, it’s a scary place to be and it’s even scarier to admit.

Will God abandon me because I doubt Him? Am I destined for destruction? What will my pastor think? Should I still be a leader?

A Challenge To The Frustrated Worship Leader

please don't make me get out of bed.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how frustrated are you?

I suppose that’s a sad way to open an article. I’m sorry.

But if I’m honest, not a week goes by where I don’t hear from a frustrated worship leader. That frustration centers around these issues.

Musicians who:

  • Show up late.
  • Have bad attitudes.
  • Don’t know the music.

I understand the struggle. You have a burning desire to see God move. You want to build a great team. You want to be unified and foster a unique, healthy, kingdom culture. But Daisey the Drama Queen is on your team and it doesn’t seem to be getting any easier.

Stop Trying To Be Great And Start Doing This

call it a plan.

Greatness. It’s a term we hear over and over.

Becoming the best we can be. Reaching your potential. Living the dream.

Kobe Bryant. Absolute greatness. The Pittsburgh Penguins. Greatness.

I’m sure you can think of other people in the greatness category.

When we think of greatness we see the Stanley Cup. We see the accolades and awards. But greatness starts way before that. For you, it starts right now.

Talent Isn’t Everything: What Sets You Apart As A Leader

hustle

It’s true. Nobody may know who you are.

Nobody may care about what you do week in and week out. You may not have fans all over the world. Your hard work may largely go unnoticed.

You’re probably not the most talented, best in the world leader.

Truth is, that’s not so bad.

Because a few people knowing who Christ is, is far better than a thousand people knowing who you are. I know, that sounds spiritually sensational – over the top. But it’s entirely possible to be so obsessed with being known, recognized, adored – that you lose your heart.

And that’s what I want to discuss today, leaders – the danger of losing your heart.

What Creativity Can Teach You About Ministry

WHAT

On a scale of 1-10, how creative are you? 1 being utterly bankrupt of all creativity and 10 being the sultan of creative brilliance (wow, I like that title).

Truth be told, the answer doesn’t matter at all. It’s a waste of time. Rather than wondering if  you’re creative, why not own the fact that you are created in the image of the Creative God, and it’s part of who you are.

Sound good? OK – glad we got that out of the way.

Because that foundation will help this post make sense for you. You are not exempt, whether you’re a painter or a plumber, an accountant or an acrobat, everyone is an artist.
