Have you ever been told that listening to or playing secular music is wrong?
Have you ever wondered what it means to be a Christian musician in the “marketplace”?
We know it’s OK to play Christian music, but what about the Christian who sings, gigs, and performs in the “world”? What are the differences between a musician who is a Christian and one who is not?
Should there be a difference or is it simply a job for both?
This is the tension we find ourselves in today.
Will you help me tackle this?
Today, I’m interviewing one of my favorite artists Ryan O’Neal. Ryan is the driving force behind Sleeping At Last, an indie rock band of epic quality. Here’s my interview with Ryan:
David: What are you up to these days? Now that your Yearbook project is over, do you have some extra time on your hands?
Ryan: Well, during yearbook I wrote a couple songs in secret for a couple future adventures – one of which was just announced a couple days ago. I wrote a song called “Turning Page” for the new Twilight film, “Breaking dawn – Part 1” – so i am suuuuper excited about that!
I’ve been having numerous conversations surrounding the future of worship music.
What will Sunday morning look like in 20-30 years?
I suppose you could say I’m a worship music junkie.
At times, you may even call me a worship songaholic.
Occasionally a worship album will come along with great songs.
Albums also appear with fantastic production.
Or an album will have a really great singer.
It’s rare for an album to have all three. “You Are I Am” by River Valley Church is one of those albums.
Trust me, you’ll want to hear this.
