CD Giveaway & Interview With Shane Barnard & Clayton Brooks [The Oaks Worship]

I had the tremendous privilege of interviewing two of The Oaks worship leaders, Clayton Brooks and Shane Barnard.

You may know Shane from the mildly successful πŸ™‚ band Shane & Shane. Their church, The Oaks Fellowship in Red Oak, TX, just released their brand new live album Lift Up the Light (iTunes link).

Click for a link to iTunes!

Lift Up the Light is probably the most “live” album I have ever heard. It really captures the heart of this local church, their passion for God’s presence, and their desire to raise up worship leaders and songwriters in their midst.

Along with Clayton & Shane, this album features other worship leaders David Belt, Bethany Dillon, & Ross Fishburn, along with BGV’s from the unmatched Shane Everett (2nd half of Shane & Shane). Did I mention there is a massive, great-sounding choir as well?

There’s nothing flashy about this album, and I believe that is its strength. Even with such high profile worship leaders, the attention is centered upon the experience of worship.Β 13 passion soaked, original worship songs that are as catchy and congregational as anything out there.

And the winners are…

  2. Jonathan Sigmon
  3. Andrew Brooks
  4. Marvin Brock

Awesome! I would love to win one of these CDs because I am always looking for new CDs to introduce to my worship band.

The interview was great, David! You have taken this post and blog to a whole new level!

my grandaughter, Candis, is married to Ross Fisburn. I was in my church in Liberal, Ks on Sunday, so unable to see the LIVE
worship album. I am SO proud of Ross and Candis and grateful for the opportunities they are having at THE OAKS.

I would love to win a copy. As much as love singing and leading older songs I know we need to sing new ones as well. Psalm 33:3…read it…I love that Psalm not just that verse but all of 33.

David I have been reading for a while now. However, this is my first comment. I love what you have to say here…God is really using it to mold me into a better leader. Thanks man.

One reason is that I really want one, but besides that, my wife works in a bar and I’m hoping that between the testimony of Shane Everett, this CD, and prayer(mainly prayer of course)it will get her out of the whole bar scene.

Sounds like a great reason, Marvin. Standing with you in prayer.

I have been a huge fan of Shane & Shane since I first heard about them 7 years ago. They remind me sooo much of my friend and I. We covered so many of their songs. They were the first duo that my friend found when he first got saved. Now he is leading worship at a new growing church. This would be a great gift to share with him and his ministry!

I love Shane and Shane. I listened to them all the time when I first came to Ireland. Now as a worship leader myself in a country without a lot of exposure to new Christian music, I would love the opportunity to hear something fresh.

Where did you move to Ireland from? How is the worship “culture” there?

I am originally from Tulsa. And as for the “worship culture”, there really isn’t a simple way for me to answer that, as I’ve just retyped fifty ways trying to do so. There is just a lot of context that would need to be included for even a brief answer, so I’ll spare you now and explain later perhaps.

This album looks great – I am always on the look out for new sounds and songs in worship. The interview was very interesting. I will definitely be looking out for it.

Cool interview — it’s neat to hear their heart and vision for the album and songs. And it sounds like their experience as a church was incredible. The album sounds awesome, and I would definitely love a free copy!

    I love Shane & Shane!

I think it is so neat to see them creating music for their local church. It’s difficult to actually train up worship leaders, but it is DEFINITELY a worthwhile endeavor.

I also like how Shane talked about the album being a great picture of where the church is at and how they are experiencing God together. Very cool!

I’d love to get a listen to the album and pass it along to my lovely wife.
