The Most Powerful Worship Song You Will Ever Sing

famousauthors

Sometimes there’s a lyric that just smacks you in the face and roots your life back in reality.

One of those phrases is from the song Unbroken Praise by Matt Redman. It goes like this:

“Let my deeds outrun my words. Let my life outweigh my song.”

So much of this has been said before. Especially from a writer like Redman.

Coming back to the heart of worship…

Now to live the life…

A life of worship isn’t new information. It’s on the t-shirts.

If our lives don’t back up our songs, it’s empty.

Worship leaders, if our personal worship doesn’t outshine the stages we stand on, we’re missing the point.

6 Tips for Leading Modern Worship In a Multi Generational Church

6 Tips for leading modern worship

If you’re a worship leader, you know the struggle.

Gregorian chants were criticized when vocal harmonies were introduced.

David & Dale Garrett were some of the first to use drums and guitars in worship back in the 1960s. You probably know the criticism that received.

Fast forward to the present day: If you lead worship in a multi generational church, you know the worship wars.

No worship leader wakes up on Sunday and thinks, “I hope I receive thousands of blank stares in worship today. I pray that no one connects with the songs today.”

No pastor wants a lifeless, disengaged, bored congregation.

But as leaders, we need to ask the hard question: how do we know if our passionate worship is really genuine? How do we know that God is pleased and glorified?

The Theological Balance Every Worship Service Needs

The Theological balance

Worship Leaders, we have a responsibility.

Our planning matters. The songs we choose matter. The heart we bring matters. The more I feel this weight the more I become concerned for worship leaders and how we’re shaping the culture in our churches.

Are we trying to be too cool?

Are we trying to be too clever?

Are we getting in the way of God?

How To Take Your Worn Out Songs And Make Them Fresh

photo-keith-misner-n-6

We’ve all been there.

The last thing we want to do is sing How Great is Our God or Here I Am to Worship…again. They feel old, tired, and worn out.

Songs go through cycles. It’s possible to do them to often as well as not enough. Striking that balance is tricky, to say the least.

But just because a song is old doesn’t mean it’s irrelevant. Great worship songs stand the test of time because they take a timeless message and wrap it in a fresh sound.
