Sunday morning has its share of busyness and distraction.
It’s not that we worship gear, tone, & rock stardom. We’re just distracted – crowded minds and preoccupied hearts
I hate to say it, but oftentimes meeting with Jesus on Sunday morning feels like a reunion with an old friend. It’s refreshing, we remember the past, but it’s like we’re just “keeping up appearances.”
We aren’t connecting on a regular basis.
The more we make worship ministry about us, the further we get from God’s heart.
It’s about passion for Jesus and compassion for people. And this podcast is all about getting real.
I had a conversation with Jimmy Thorpe, local church worship pastor and all-around great guy about the ins and outs of worship ministry.
So many valuable topics are discussed in this interview – two local church guys talking about what we do week in and week out.
This is less about songwriting, music production, and art and more about what it takes to lead people, which is what most of us spend our time doing.

You know what’s difficult for me? Finishing songs.
It’s agonizing for me to declare a song “done” if there’s still possibility that it could be better.
It could always improve. It could always change.
But there comes a time when you have to finish.
There’s more at stake in your creative projects than you may realize. Your creativity, your art, your work sets inspiration into motion.
Throughout my life I’ve been inspired by artists, musicians, and writers who could have made the decision to stall and never finish.
Influence belongs to those who step out and make something happen.
Good intentions don’t change the world.
Dreams don’t make a difference unless they’re put on a deadline.
We don’t really need more songs.
We need God songs – songs that transport our wandering hearts and distracted minds to behold a greater reality.
Without a doubt, that’s why I love the songs of Jon Egan and the Desperation Band.
