On occasion, I like to recommend music that I love. Future of Forestry is one of those bands I would consider in my top 5 favorites.

It was such an honor to chat with Eric Owyoung, the mastermind behind the band. We discuss a lot regarding music and the creative process.

It’s one thing to worship God on a stage with great music.

But what happens pain and suffering rocks your world? It’s these situations that test our worship at its core.

It was such an honor to have a conversation with Bobby Gilles. Bobby and his wife Kristen are songwriters with Sojourn music and leaders there in the Sojourn church community.

Our conversation went in a lot of different directions that you don’t want to miss. We discussed the power of articulating your testimony, creating worship team culture, having more than enough musicians, and how to worship through pain & suffering. We even talked about parenting and the father’s pastoral role in the home.

But what if you’re responsible for leading, managing, and advancing a creative department in your church?

Local church ministry is all about working with and through others.

Whether you’re on staff at a large church with multiple worship staff or you’re the lone volunteer worship leader at a smaller church, collaboration is the name of the game.

I had the honor of chatting with a few guys from Vertical Church Band. Vertical Church Band is a worship ministry from Harvest Bible Chapel in Chicago.

These guys may write songs and make records (get their new album The Rock Won’t Move on iTunes), but they are local church worship leaders who are “all in” at their church.
