We all may not have climbed Mount Everest.

We all may not have run a triathlon.

We all might not have tasted octopus, done jury duty, or bun-jee jumped over the Grand Canyon.

But there is a story we can all tell. And that’s the story of an embarrassing moment.

Anyone who does anything on a stage will have embarrassing moments to share. Let’s be honest – sometimes words come out the wrong way.

I think we could all agree – worship isn’t about songs.

Songs are important, but there’s more to a worship service than simply singing through them one after the other, right?

But how do we get to a place in our leadership where we move beyond the song to the main event of gazing upon the glory of the Lord?

We don’t just want good songs.

We don’t just want smooth transitions.

We don’t just want great music or a great show.

We can get that somewhere else.

What we need is the real presence of God and an atmosphere where we can get lost in it.

There’s no argument that when it comes to worship, our heart is important.

It’s not just about the outward appearance, musical brilliance, or leadership savvy. It’s about the offering we bring to God from deep within our heart. God sees through what is fake and knows what’s there.

But guarding your heart isn’t simply an event or a moment of intense focus. It’s a lifestyle of healthy decisions – boundaries you place in your life to keep your heart pure, on-fire for Jesus, and above reproach.
